2021 NEW YEAR, NEW BEGINNINGS
Announcing a new chapter for Sound Connection...
But first, we need to thank our fearless leader, our inimitable maestro and our good mate Andrew Howson. Andrew has stepped down from the helm for some much needed rest, after nearly 20 consecutive years of barbershop chorus directing.
Sound Connection owes much of its success to Andrew's exquisite direction. Under his leadership we achieved four national medals (including 3 consecutive Gold medals), two Pan Pacific medals and had the privilege of representing BHA at the 2017 BHS International Convention in Las Vegas. Andrew also directed us in front of a club-record 25,000 people at the 2019 Surfers Paradise Christmas Carols, a thrilling and incredible experience. We thank Andrew for his tireless dedication, his commitment to musical excellence and his slightly mad-cap cocktail mixing ability. We hope to see you on our risers one day soon, but until then enjoy the much needed break!
To pick up where Andrew left off, we are thrilled to announce that we have appointed Kelly Shepard to the position of Musical Director. Kelly is most recently a BHA national quartet champion, but is also an International Quartet Bronze medallist with Metropolis and has served on the music team of the Masters of Harmony, nine-time International Chorus Champions. Kelly is excited to lead the chorus to this new chapter and we can't wait to share with you all the exciting things we've been working on.
